  • Body Effective AND Cost effective

Folixor PLUS not only delivers Folic Acid effectively and efficiently, it does so without a high price tag. Folixor PLUS is ideal for every individual, even those who desire support for folic acid metabolization.
    What is Folinic Acid?

Folinic Acid is 5-formyl-tetrahydrofolate, a "body ready" form of folic acid. This means that folinic acid is more easily processed by the body because the body can turn it into an active or usable form of folate. It requires no enzymatic conversion and therefore does not contribute to elevated folate blood serum levels. Folinic Acid may also be utilized more easily than the more expensive 5 methyl tetrahydrofolate known as "5-methyl".

What roles do Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12 and L-Leucine play?

Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12 serve as important cofactors for folic acid absorption. They improve folic acid bioavailability. The Amino Acid L-Leucine improves overall Folixor PLUS bioavailability by also increasing absorption of folic acid and the other B Vitamins.
Why is our high bioavailability, slow-dissolving tablet better?

Folixor PLUS tablets are formulated to be dissolved almost completely and then the bits swirled around in the mouth until swallowed. This method of delivery ensures maximum bioavailability. Folic acid when chewed and swallowed in this fashion is also absorbed by the blood capillaries of the mouth where it is then deposited  into the bloodstream. This type of delivery should be the preferred method for those who need support with folic acid absorption.

Who should consider Folixor PLUS tablets?

Folic Acid supplementation is essential for all women of child bearing age. Folic Acid may have additional applications for: cervical health, cognition, mental health, mental acuity, oral hygiene, heart health*. Folixor PLUS is ideal for individuals who need support with folic acid absorption.
  • Questions about Folixor PLUS and Folic Acid
Why does Folixor PLUS contain Folinic Acid and not 5-methyl?

Folinic Acid is 5-formyl-tetrahydrofolate, a "body ready" form of folic acid. This means that folinic acid is more easily processed by the body because the body can turn it into an active or usable form of folate. 5-methyl-tetrahydrofolate is another form of body-ready folic acid that offers good bioavailability but it has been shown that Folinic acid provides exceptional bioavailability of folic acid EVEN FOR THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO NEED SUPPORT WITH FOLIC ACID ABSORPTION. 5 methyl is simply more expensive and folinic acid may actually work better than 5 methyl.

What are other health benefits of Folic Acid?

Due to its primary role in DNA & RNA synthesis, Folic Acid supports healthy DNA production and healthy cellular formation. Folic Acid may support healthy memory and healthy cognition. Folic Acid applied topically to gums supports periodontal health. Folic acid is an antagonist to the amino acid homocysteine and homocysteine may contribute to weaker bones*.

Why supplement with Folic Acid?  Many common medications deplete folic acid reserves. Supplementation of Folic Acid can replenish this crucial B vitamin. Medications that are known to deplete folic acid are: methothrexate, antacids, anti-inflammatory medications, antibiotic medications, anticonvulsant medications, antidiabetic medications, birth control medications, cholesterol lowering medications, diuretics, ulcer medications. Low levels of folate may adversely affect mood.

Can't I just get folic acid from my diet?

A diet rich in vegetables (leafy greens) will provide a good source of folic acid. However, folic acid is easily depleted and many individuals are actually deficient in folic acid because they have a genetic problem that interferes with its metabolism. Did you know that synthetic folic acid actually absorbs better than that consumed from one's diet? Especially for individuals with folic acid concerns, Folixor PLUS is an excellent choice.
What about studies linking Folic Acid intake with cancer?

Folic Acid does not cause cancer. It's numerous benefits and countless studies showing its benefits contradict studies performed in the last few years that suggest otherwise. For an excellent piece that discussed the problems with the studies linking folic acid with cancer please read "Folic Acid Does Not Cause Cancer" by Mr. Andrew Saul from the Orthomolecular News Service.
